AIR NIUGINI TRAINS POST PNG TICKETING AGENTS
May 19, 2022
More Post PNG branches throughout the country are now able to sell Air Niugini tickets – thanks to continuous ticketing agents? training.
Eleven staff from various postal branches throughout the country recently attended a week-long training at Air Niugini?s Training Centre at 7mile in Port Moresby. They included staff from Mendi, Kundiawa, Kerema, Wabag, Mt Hagen, Jiwaka, Kainantu and Port Moresby?s Konedobu, Rainbow, Boroko and Brian Bell Plaza branches.
The Post PNG staff were trained on technical aspects on how to use Sabre Reservation system, a system that is currently used by Air Niugini to create and manage customer reservations.
The participants learnt how to create reservations, price and ticket itineraries, identify how a fare is applied to the journey, read, interpret, apply fare rules, retrieve and interpret fare quotes, rules and issue tickets.
Air Niugini?s Acting General Manager, Commercial Services Charlie Wanma said ?this training is part of the airline?s focus on expanding its distribution model and with Post PNG?s office accessibility this will greatly assist in bringing our services closer to people living in rural areas?.
?It is a workable model and by cooperating with another State Owned Enterprise(SOE) partner who have the reach, we can? expand ticketing distribution and airline services to more people in smaller towns and communities.? Wanma said
Post PNG Acting Chief Executive Officer, Justin Worinu said it is an added skill his staff have acquired, emphasizing the importance of SOEs working together to ensure key government services reach people at the community level.
He said ?At the Board level, the Government is making decisions to ensure SOEs work hand in hand and this is a great example where they (SOEs) are able to work in partnership to save costs and at the same time ensure basic but important services reach people in rural areas.?
This is the 4th batch of Post PNG staff to attend this specialist training since the first training was conducted in March 2019.
