Special Meal Request
Air Niugini offers passengers a range of specific meals to meet their dietary, religious and medical requirements, on request. These special meal requests are offered only on our International flights. Travellers can request their preferred special meal types when booking on our website, before their scheduled flights.
If you are making your booking or reservation at your local Sales offices or Travel Agent for your international travel, please ensure to advise the sales agents of your meal preference.
Note, all special meals must be requested at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled flight departure except for the Kosher meal type that must be requested at least 48 hours prior to scheduled flight departure time.
Baby meal can only be requested for infants less than two years old. However, Parents are encouraged to carry food familiar to and preferred by their babies. For children between the ages of two and 12 years, you now have the option to request for a Child meal.
We will do our utmost to deliver your special meal requests, however we cannot guarantee availability.
Some special meals are unavailable on certain flights with shorter flying times.?Special meals are not offered on our domestic flights.

AVML | Asian Vegetarian |
For vegetarian passengers. AVML is usually aromatic and spicy, and incorporates flavours from the Indian sub-continent. AVML can contain all types of vegetables, fresh fruit, dried fruits, legumes, dairy products, tofu, cereal, grains and vegetarian gelatine. AVML does NOT contain any type of meat or by-products, fish, shellfish, eggs or animal gelatine. |
BBML | Baby Meal | For infants less than two years old. A standard range of baby meals can be uplifted. However, Parents are encouraged to carry food familiar to and preferred by their babies. |
BLML | Bland Meal |
For passengers who suffer from gastric discomfort. BLML contains low-fat food items, is non-spicy and has low dietary fibre. BLML can contain grilled lean white meat, fish, cooked vegetables, fruits such as water melon and melons, poached eggs, egg white omelette, low seasoned food, soft bread and low-fat dairy products. BLML does NOT contain garlic, onions, cabbage and cauliflower, spices (such as black pepper or chilli), fried and fatty foods, raw and dried fruits and nuts, citrus fruits, whole grains, raw vegetables, highly seasoned meats, pickles and excess sugar. |
CHML | Child Meal |
For children between the ages of two and 12 years. CHML can contain chicken, fish, pasta, vegetables, chocolate, crisps, crackers, milk and dairy products, and fruit and fruit juices. CHML does NOT contain highly seasoned food and rich sauces. |
DBML | Diabetic Meal |
A low-sugar meal for passengers suffering from diabetes (high sugar levels). DBML can contain grilled lean white meat, fish, high fibre foods, wholegrain cereals (brown rice, whole meal pasta, quinoa, barley and cracked wheat (bulgur)), sweet potatoes, boiled or crushed potatoes with skin, vegetables, fresh fruit, low-fat dairy products and diabetic-friendly products such as sugar-free jam. DBML does NOT contain refined sugar (only certain permitted sugar substitutes may be used), processed meats, fried foods, sweetened dairy products, cream-based sauces and canned fruits. |
FPML | Fruit Platter |
Meal ordered for dietary reasons. It is also be ordered by members of certain communities who eat only fruit while fasting. FPML can contain dried fruit (without sulphites) and seasonal fresh fruit. FPML does NOT contain canned fruit, additives and preservatives. |
GFML | Gluten Free Meal |
Also refered to as Gluten Intolerant Meal. For passengers who are allergic or intolerant to gluten. This meal does not contain any wheat-based products. GFML can contain gluten-free bread and cakes, dairy products, fresh fruit and vegetables, pulses, salads, fish, lean meats, corn, wheat-free food items such as rice and crackers, potatoes, quinoa and buckwheat. GFML does NOT contain wheat-based breads, sauces, pasta, custard, wafers, crackers, semolina, barley, rye and oats. |
HNML | Hindu Meal |
For passengers who follow Hindu custom. Meals are non-vegetarian and prepared in Indian culinary style. HNML can contain lamb, chicken, fish, eggs, milk, dairy products and cereals. HNML does NOT contain veal, beef or by-products, or raw or smoked fish. |
KSML | Kosher Meal | For passengers who follow Jewish custom. Kosher meals are prepared to comply with Jewish dietary requirements. KSML is not prepared locally due to strict Religious rituals. It is ordered and uplifted from our International Caterers upon request at -48 hrs. notice to scheduled departure. Passover meals cannot be guaranteed. |
LCML | Low Calorie Meal | This meal is for customers on a low-calorie diet. It may contain: Lean meats, low-fat dairy, complex carbohydrates and steamed or poached prepared foods as a cooking style. Does not contain: Fried or fatty foods, sugar, full cream dairy products, fatty meats, sweets, sauces such as mayonnaise, and salad dressing. |
LFML | Low Cholesterol Low Fat Meal |
For passengers who need to minimise their intake of fatty foods. LFML can contain olive oil, egg whites, boiled rice, grilled lean meats, fish, wholegrain bread, cereals, fresh fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy. LFML does NOT contain full fat milk, cream, butter, cheese, egg yolks, meats with higher saturated fat content as well as processed meats, fried food, rich desserts and mayonnaise. |
LSML | Low Sodium |
For passengers who suffer from cardiovascular and/or kidney problems. LSML can contain salt-free margarine, foods low in sodium and fresh or frozen foods. LSML does NOT contain salty cheese, sauces, dressings, cured and brined meals or canned food, and baking powder and baking soda are restricted in amount. |
MOML | Moslem Meal | Meal prepared in accordance with the regulations and customs of Islam. Pork products, Gelatin, Alcohol, Flavoring extracts from alcohol and Fish without scales and fins are not used. |
NLML | Non Lactose Meal |
Meal may be ordered for those who are allergic or intolerant to milk and milk products, or those suffering from low lactose levels. NLML can contain fruits, vegetables, soy milk, tofu, pasta, rice, pulses, cereals, fish or meat. NLML does NOT contain milk and milk products, breakfast cereals, creamy sauces, dairy-based sauces, soft rolls, croissants or milk chocolates. |
RVML | Raw Vegetarian Meal |
Also referred to as Vegetarian Raw Meal. Meal consists of a combination of raw vegetables and fruits. RVML can contain raw vegetables and fruits, salads and vegetable juices. RVML does NOT contain meat, poultry, fish, seafood, eggs, dairy products, highly processed foods, additives and preservatives. |
SFML | Seafood Meal | For passengers who prefer seafood. SFML can contain seafood products. SFML does NOT contain any meat products. |
VGML | Vegetarian Meal Non Dairy |
Western style vegetarian meal excludes animal-derived ingredients. VGML can contain all types of vegetables and fresh fruits, legumes, grains, cereals, vegetarian gelatine and tofu. VGML does NOT contain any animal products or by-products such as eggs, dairy products, animal gelatine and honey, or any type of meat or fish. |
VJML | Vegetarian Jain Meal |
Meal is for members of the Jain community who are pure vegetarians. VJML is prepared with a selection of Indian condiments. VJML can contain fresh fruit and stem vegetables that grow above the ground. VJML does NOT contain animal products and by-products, seafood, eggs, dairy products, eggplant, cauliflower, broccoli and root vegetables including onions, mushrooms, ginger, garlic, potatoes, carrots, beets, radishes and turmeric. |
VLML | Vegetarian Meal Lacto Ovo |
Vegetarian Meal that may also contain eggs and dairy products. VJML contains one or more of these ingredients: vegetables, fresh fruit, eggs, dairy products, and pulses. VJML does NOT contain any type of fish or meat. |
VOML | Vegetarian Oriental Meal | Vegetarian Meal (VGML) that is also prepared Chinese or Oriental-style. |
