AIR NIUGINI RECOMMENCES DOMESTIC FLIGHTS AS FUEL SUPPLY RESTORED
July 29, 2023
Air Niugini was able to resume domestic flights late this afternoon after an understanding was reached concerning the supply of fuel by Puma Energy.
Fuel supply recommenced after agreements were reached (as indicated in Government press releases on the matter). Air Niugini expects that flights will return to normal, with extra services added to clear the back logs caused by the Puma fuel restriction today. Air Niugini hopes that the supply continues, without further disruption.
Acting Air Niugini Chief Executive Officer, Mr Gary Seddon said “It’s extremely disappointing to cancel over 50 domestic flights today, leaving passengers stranded. I hope that our valued passengers appreciate, we had no control over Puma Energy ceasing fuel supply.”
“We hope that a permanent solution can be found to ensure that our domestic operations are no longer affected in this manner. A sustained fuel supply is critical to the safe and constant operations of Air Niugini.”
We remind our customers to check with Air Niugini sales offices, our customer service call centre, local travel agents, Air Niugini facebook page or our website www.airniugini.com.pg for further information.
Air Niugini sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to our passengers and the public, by the fuel situation and reaffirms this was beyond the control of the airline. Safety is always of paramount importance in everything we do at Air Niugini.
